Our locally sourced white oak is recognized for its desirable growth characteristics – slow, with extra-tight straight grain. All our oak is grown nearby from forests in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa – sharing a similar latitude of the Bordeaux region of France. Staggemeyer staves are milled to exact specifications by seasoned professionals – truly an art form. Our staves are hand-sorted and aged in open-air seasoning in our yard for 2-1/2 to 3 years to augment their intrinsic flavor qualities.
